Born & Raised in New Jersey, Pang-Lo continues a long tradition of underground dance and house music that has flourished in New Jersey for well over two decades.
It was through a church youth group while in his early teens that Pang-Lo first discovered New York & New Jersey's unique house sounds and dance scene. A group of friends first brought Pang to such legendary parties as Zanzibar and Wild Pitch in the early nineties. “I barely have any recollection of the night I stepped into Zanz . . . it was like some sort of dream . . . every now and then I’ll get some flashes of that day. I mainly remember standing on something in the middle of the floor and looking at people dance in front of this big mirror, they were in their own world . . .I loved it. It was my only time at that legendary place” From there a passion for the house music scene took the young teen to clubs like House Nation, Sound Factory Bar, Dance Ritual and The Shelter during the nineties. This also led to the formation (and brief participation) of a dance crew called "Next Generation" that has now found its home in Japan. He took a long break from the scene when his daughter was born to focus on building a foundation for his family. Now, back on the scene Pang Lo has made the transition to DJ.
For six years Pang-Lo has been spinning the deep sounds of New Jersey and New York. Influenced by Afro and Latin percussion, his DJ style spans many genres, from soulful vocals, teched out synths & brazilian beats to tribal bangers, creating a rich and warm sound for dancers filled with spirit. Pang-Lo also credits his Mother's upbringing for his soulful vibe. “My mom and dad let my uncle stay with us after he arrived from México. Him and his drums.... (Hahahaha). I used to sneak into his room and start banging away. After I got busted for busting one of his cymbals, he embraced my curiosity. He let me sit in during his mini sessions blasting Santana, The Beatles, Manhattan Transfer & Spyro Gyra during breaks. "Those were great years.”
In the fall of 2006 Pang was asked by Partner Steve Lamorte to bring a little Jersey to Manhattan. They started a weekly party called “CRAVE” in Soho, NY. The party opened up opportunities for invitations to the Winter Music Conference's "2007 Freestyle Dance Off" and NYC's "Soulgasm" events. He was then asked to spin at “House Dance International” alongside super producers Quentin Harris & Filsonik as well as the younger Martinez Brothers on Shelters legendary main floor. Later, he would be asked to become one of the residents for “House Dance International”.
Pang-Lo is currently a resident DJ for the party “Shanti” A two floor party committed to giving an outlet to the tri-state area's underground, it gathers once a month on Sundays at Club Shelter in NYC.
